Sensational movie director and producer, Shirely Frimpong-Manso has advised movie producers against the rampant and unrelated use of sex scenes in movies saying they are making the industry suffer. “People need to learn that if you are doing a sex scene in a movie, it has to be tastefully done because movie making is an art and therefore it has to be done artistically.” Speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com Tuesday after the press preview of her latest work, 6 Hours to Christmas, Shirely advised that people shouldn’t just copy such things because others are doing it. “If you are going to do a sex scene and it’s related to the story, then fine but if you think that you are going to do a story and if you omit the sex scenes and the story can still stand, don’t use it,” she stressed. The Africa Movie Academy Award(AMAA) winning director said the major problem is that some producers are using sex scenes as a selling tool, a practise she said was wrong adding, “It is going to make our industry suffer.” Her twisted comedy, 6 Hours to Christmas which she said is a real life stories of ‘some people’ offered her the opportunity to do something different.
